CHAPTER

TEN

Late morning passed into early afternoon, and they crested a rise in the road that widened into a clearing and they could suddenly see for miles around them. The view was so arresting that they all stopped in awe gazing at the wonderous sights before them.

“Wow. It’s so pretty!” Torren exclaimed as she spun around trying to look at everything at once.

She was right, the views were stunning, but Jon couldn’t help but be on edge by how exposed they were, especially if there were wyverns around, so he didn’t join in on the exuberance. He was too busy scanning the sky and tree lines for any hint of trouble. He wasn’t alone in his worries either, he noticed Lucille and Anna were also doing the same.

Then out of the corner of his eye he saw Olivia point at something further up in the mountains.

“What is it?” Jon said trotting over to where Olivia was standing.

“Look, Jon!”

He followed where her finger was pointing, and his eyes widened in amazement.

There at the base of the last two tree covered peaks was a large city full of buildings of all sizes, large glittering plazas, and massive glowing obelisks. All made of white almost shining stone and from what he could see they were still in good condition with no trees or underbrush marring them.

Then something floating above it caught his attention, this something was special, it was something near and dear to every gamer or otaku’s heart. It was an honest to goodness floating city complete with water fall spilling over one side of it.

He felt Olivia’s intertwined her fingers with his then they squeezed them together tightly.

“Jon.”

“I know I saw it too.”

“Um, do you know any flying spells.”

“I don’t but I’m going to go find one.”

“When you do teach it to me too.”

“It’s a promise.”

Then they just stood there, hand in hand with stupid goofy looking grins on their faces until Anna came over to them.

“Celestia is a beautiful city, isn’t it?”

They both nodded.

“We made good time after our last break, so we have plenty of extra time to have a late lunch here before moving on.”

“How far is it to the city?”

“It’s only about thirty minutes from here.”

Jon glanced at the clock on his status window, it was two p.m. now and with thirty minutes to the city and the snow pack another two hours after that they would easily be on the hunting grounds before six.

Dusk wasn’t until nine, so they easily had two hours to kill.

“Yeah, we really hoofed it up here, didn’t we?” Jon said with a grin.

“You all seem very fit, so yes, we made great time up the road.” Anna admitted.

“So two hours then. I have the summon tent spell. It might be good for us all to eat and take some naps before head out.”

“That would be great. We’ll set up a watch schedule.”

“Let me know who’s going first.”

Torren and Lucille had joined them by that time and Torren raised her hand.

“What is it Torren?”

“After we eat, I think Lucille, Anna, and I should take the first watch.
